Life These Days

Wow, I can't believe we are in the middle of June already! It feels like just yesterday I was still pregnant and waiting for baby to arrive. To say that April and May have been a complete blur is an understatement. As you know, we welcomed another baby boy to our family in April and now our little guy is almost 11 weeks old already {how precious are these photos by Nicole Starr} and I'm heading back to work in one week {eek......}. I will say there is a part of me that is looking forward to returning to work; however, I'm really going to miss my time at home with baby Harrison. He is so sweet and despite a few hiccups {read on to see why} this has truly been a great maternity.

As I prepare to head back I'm determined to finish this book.  So much of Emily's approach and advice has truly resonated with me and it's honestly helping me "relax" a bit and truly take in the daily joys versus my ever growing to-do-list. I know heading back to work will certainly be a challenge given all the moving parts and logistics of getting two littles out the door, managing a busy work schedule, pumping etc. but I'm going to do my absolute best to keep my stress levels down by embracing elements of Emily's book. 

To help me manage all the moving parts I've purchased my first Day Designer planner. I've never used this planner, but love the format, goals and overall approach. Wish me luck because this will soon be my bible. In addition to my new planner, I've also worked hard at organizing my closet and wardrobe. If you missed it on a recent Instagram story I've been on a purging frenzy. It feels so good to get rid of clothes and because I received so many questions I'm working on a dedicated post outlining my approach and tips. Ultimately my goal is to have a more streamlined closet, but also pieces that transition well from work to weekend. I want to maximize my time with my little people and focus less on laundry, keeping my closet organized but still feeling put together even though I'm now a mom of two littles. 

Overall the transition from one to two has been more complicated then I expected, but in some ways a lot easier {note: I am dedicating a separate post to address our "new normal" and how different things have been with a newborn this time around}. 

Aside from welcoming our second son and adjusting to life as a family of four, our oldest son also suffered a playground injury when our son Harrison was only 3 weeks old, resulting in a full leg cast. I have total mom guilt over this {if you are a mom of a baby or toddler PLEASE read this. This is exactly how the accident happened and I wish I had been warned of this playground hazard}. Thankfully, his cast was only on for three weeks and he seems to be recovering well. Regardless, his broken leg rocked my world a bit and made for some logistial challenges, but we survived and I'm so happy it's now behind us. 

In addition to our changing family dynamics, I've also spent a lot of time thinking about this blog, what I want from it and how I will plan to move forward now that time is even more limited. I really want this to be a good resource for friends and fellow moms with a focus on family, lifestyle and personal style because I'm transitioning back to my regular wardrobe and soon to be work wear. More importantly, I really want your feedback in terms of what you want to see more of, or even less of.
