My Style Formula and Favorite Closet Staple
Hello and Happy Tuesday! In full transparency this post was supposed to go live yesterday, but I had two little people who scooped up most of my attention this weekend. Honestly, I have a folder full of blog posts in draft mode that I’ve struggled to finish and I’ve finally realized I need to block my schedule and utilize my time better at night and on the weekends. All this to say, I’m still getting a blog post live early in the week, so cheers to that!
I have a confession to make. Since becoming a mom over 4 years ago I’ve struggled with my wardrobe, deciding what to wear. I will also admit that I have’nt exactly felt comfortable in my own skin either. My sporadic and inconsistency with working out, love of wine and diet have'n't exactly helped my case, but it’s my reality and I’m not going to dwell on that today. What I do want to share is that having a formula simplifies getting dressed for me. It’s nothing revolutionary, but I’ve found a combination that works for me. I am also trying hard to build a closet with intention because I want to love everything (or mostly everything) in my closet and not be overwhelmed with excess or pieces that don’t fit or suit my lifestyle right now. I can honestly say that I’ve become more selective, I’m passing over trends and I’m trying to take a more practical approach to purchases in general. This approach has really made me realize that I have my own personal style and I’m embracing it instead of trying to build a wardrobe that does’nt align with my style.
I’ve been loving a few things in my closet and I wanted to share one of my favorite weekend looks. If you follow along you know I’m a busy mom with two little, not to mention VERY active toddler boys. They keep me going all weekend, which means I reach for the pieces that are easy and comfortable without having to sacrific my personal style.
My formula for weekend usually includes sneakers or booties, high waisted denim and a comfortable top layered with a light jacket. It’s pretty basic, but it keeps things easy for me since I find myself reaching for the same pieces.
This look is one of my favorites because I’m huge fan of Dudley Stephens and the entire line of fashion forward fleeces are comfortable and can easily be styled “up” for an elevated look.

Tuckernuck, one of my go-to shopping sites has a great collection of the Dudley Stephens classics. I own a few and have kept to the neutrals because they mix and match with so many pieces in my wardrobe. Here are some of my favorite styles and colors.
