Dinosaur Cookies & Supporting Local
While we are all stuck at home and trying to adjust to our new normal, I am looking for new and easy ways to entertain our boys. The one thing I’ve realized is that they find joy playing with everyday things we have around the house and activities that might seem basic or boring to us. I’m also fighting the urge to load up on too many new toys that I know they will immediately get sick of, or likely break.
My sister-in-law stopped by with the best surprise today from The Underground Bakery, which was even sweeter since she found a great way to support a local bakery AND provide the boys with a fun afternoon activity - it was the highlight of their day.
I’ve loved seeing how businesses are pivoting and finding ways to serve their customers, which is critically important for them to maintain business operations, but for customers, it feels comforting to know there is a small sliver of normalcy happening outside of our homes.
The Underground Bakery is selling premade baking and cookie decorating kits that include all the goodies. The boys were able to immediately jump in and start decorating their sugar cookies. While it was a quick activity, it was fun to watch how excited they were.
If you have a local bakery, visit their website or social media pages to see if they are still open and offering modified operations, new menu items or special delivery or curbside pick-up services during this time. And, if you don’t have access to these fun pre-made kits, it’s an easy enough project good for a variety of ages. Happy decorating and keep on supporting local small businesses in any way that you can!
